Modern Ag is proud to announce Steve Koike as a featured speaker at this year’s Strawberry Industry Expo. A renowned plant pathologist who spent nearly three decades with University of California Cooperative Extension, Koike is the director of TriCal Diagnostics and the 2018 recipient of CAPCA’s Outstanding Contribution to Agriculture award.
Koike will present “Strategies for Diagnosing Problems in Strawberry.” His talk focuses on the critical role accurate diagnostics play in integrated pest management (IPM).
Successful IPM starts with identifying the exact cause of disease symptoms. Using the Disease Triangle—host, pathogen, and environment—Koike will guide attendees on using this framework to pinpoint issues affecting strawberry crops, equipping growers and other professionals with the tools to make informed decisions.
Learn how to assess the strengths and vulnerabilities of different strawberry cultivars, how to identify specific pathogens, and how to evaluate environmental factors on the farm. Koike will also highlight the importance of incorporating detailed farm records and leveraging laboratory support to craft a comprehensive diagnostic strategy.
This session is approved for CCA credit, and PCA credit is pending.
